It was a deadly weekend for motorists, as motor vehicle crashes claimed the lives of at least seven people.

The fatal crashes occurred in St. James, Trelawny and Westmoreland.

In the latest incident last night, an unidentified male died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision in Coopers Pen, Falmouth about 11:20 P.M.  

Earlier that evening, four males died in a motor vehicle crash along the Culloden main road, in Westmoreland.

They have been identified as Kemaney Thomas, Tevin Bailey, Renado Fenton and 22-year-old Arsenio Forbes, all of Whitehouse, Westmoreland.

Meanwhile on Saturday, a 16 year old boy died following a three-vehicle collision on the Bickersteth main road in St. James .

It is reported that Kyno Atkins was driving a motorcycle along the roadway, when he allegedly attempted to overtake a Toyota Voxy motor car. 

He lost control of the motorcycle and fell off. 

Another motorcyclist then crashed into him.

Vice-chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones noted the continued carnage on the roadways, while lamenting the deaths of the 5 motorcyclists. 

In another incident on Saturday, a 23 year old man died in a two vehicle collision involving a Honda Civic and a Subaru Impreza motor car along the Ironshore main road in the vicinity of Whitter Village.

It is alleged that one of the drivers disobeyed the traffic light, resulting in the collision. 

The driver of the Subaru motorcar was pronounced dead at hospital.
