16-year-old boy among 5 dead in motorcycle crashes at the weekend
Four males died in a motor vehicle crash in Westmoreland, last evening. Their identities have not yet been released.
Reports are that around 6 P.M., two motorcycles with pillions aboard were travelling easterly along the Colloden main road towards Whitehouse.
The motorcyclists reportedly overtook a Toyota Yaris motorcar and crashed into a white Toyota Hiace motor vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Commanding Officer for the Westmoreland police Superintendent Othneil Dobson says both motorcycle drivers and their pillion died as a result of injuries sustained.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy died following a three-vehicle crash on the Bickersteth main road in St. James on Saturday. Dead is Kyno Atkins of Johnson Common in Bickersteth.
It is reported that at about 2:40 P.M., Atkins was driving a motorcycle along the roadway when he allegedly attempted to overtake a Toyota Voxy motor car.
According to investigators, it is believed he developed a skid, lost control of the motorcycle and fell off.
The motorcycle then crashed into a Toyota Wish motor car that was travelling in the opposite direction.
Another motorcycle then crashed into Atkins as he laid on the ground.
Passers-by assisted Atkins to the hospital, where he died while being treated.
The second motorcyclist fled the scene, while the driver of the Toyota Wish motor car was interviewed and released.
