Tyler Tracy claims double gold at 2024 Pat Shaw Memorial in Guatemala
Members of the Jamaican Wrestling Federation participated in the United World Wrestling Americas’ UWW Pat Shaw Memorial tournament and the Regional Development camp that was hosted by the Guatemalan Wrestling Federation from May 30th to June 9th.
The camp and competition featured 333 male and female athletes from U15 to Senior level competitors from Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, United States.
The Jamaican National team was represented by U20 athletes Irie Jackson at 57kg and Tyler Tracy 70kg. The Senior athletes are Josh Walford 57 kg, Jordan Mitchell 65kg and Marquis Larmond at 74kg.
All six competitors came home with a medals as Tyler Tracy won double gold in both the senior and U20 divisions.
Silver medals went to Josh Walford at 57 kg, Irie Jackson at u20 57kg, Jordan Mitchell at 65 kg and Marquis Larmond at 74kg.
Both the senior and u20 men’s freestyle team finished 3rd in the team race.
The team was coached by Kasrie Cassells and Dwight Spence.
Next up, members of the U17 & U20 National Team will head to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Lima, Peru for their respective Pan American Championships.
