WCPL fixtures & Windies Men’s double headers confirmed
The fixtures for the 2024 edition of the Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League have been confirmed with the matches set to take place in Trinidad.
This year’s tournament is slated to from August 21-29 and will see matches on three game days – August 23, 25 and 27 – being played as part of double-headers with the Men’s T20 Internationals between the West Indies and South Africa.
This will be the first time that Men’s Internationals will be part of a double header with a Women’s franchise competition with cricket fans able to see the best male and female players taking part in matches on the same ticket.
Johnny Grave, CEO of Cricket West Indies, said: “Women’s cricket continues to be a strategic priority for Cricket West Indies, and this is another exciting new concept for WCPL 2024. We are certain that there will be huge interest from people in Trinidad in these double headers, as fans will be able to watch world class international Men’s cricket, followed by the best female cricketers in the region competing alongside some of the best overseas players in the world.”
The WCPL is being contested by three teams, defending champions Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors who face each other twice in a round robin format. The top 2 teams will advance to the championship decider on Thursday August 29.
The first match in the new season will feature the Royals, led by West Indies Women’s team captain Hayley Mathews, going up against the Amazon Warriors.
All games will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
