Police High Command awaiting findings of INDECOM probe into incident at Freeport lock-up that left two inmates and a Constable wounded
The High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has acknowledged the shooting incident at the Freeport police lockup in St. James yesterday evening.
The incident resulted in two inmates and a policeman being wounded.
The High Command says the situation was swiftly controlled, and the weapon involved was retrieved and secured.
It notes the matter is being probed by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
The High Command adds that it awaits the findings of the INDECOM report to provide a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It notes that the JCF remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all individuals in our custody and upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency, and that further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
