Indecom probing wounding of two inmates and police officer at Freeport police station
The Independent Commission of Investigations, Indecom, is probing the circumstances surrounding an incident, which left two inmates and a police constable suffering from gunshot wounds, on Saturday.
The wounds resulted from the discharge of a firearm at the Freeport Police Station in Montego-Bay, St James.
Commissioner of Indecom, Hugh Faulkner, says the commission is carrying out investigations to determine what unfolded at the police station.
This is the second incident being investigated by Indecom at a police station in recent days.
On Friday, there was an altercation between police and inmates at the Mandeville police lock-up in Manchester.
Indecom said that incident developed following the seizure of a cellular phone.
Commissioner Faulkner said some inmates had to be taken to hospital, for medical treatment.
