Stiffer penalties to be imposed for stealing farm produce and livestock
Stiffer penalties are to be imposed- on persons who steal farm produce and livestock.
Agriculture Minister Floyd Green notes that the amended Agriculture Produce Act will see the fine for trespassing being increased from $20,000 to $1 million.
Mr. Green says the aim is to discourage persons from trespassing on private property and stealing produce.
He notes further that to aid in clamping down on thieves, a programme will be implemented in partnership with the police, in targeted communities.
