NWU says it intends to table all written agreements with Jamaica Public Service during today’s meeting at Labour Ministry
The National Workers’ Union says it intends to table all written agreements with the Jamaica Public Service during today’s meeting at the Labour Ministry.
The meeting follows Friday’s strike notice on the light and power company over claims that it did not honour written agreements to convert 30 employees from contractual to permanent positions.
According to the Union’s General Secretary, Granville Valentine the utility company has been implementing new policies without discussions with the Union.
He says this repeated trend is disrespectful to employees and has led to them becoming restive.
Mr. Valentine notes that with the Ministry’s intervention, he hopes there will be a resolution to the matter.
The meeting at the Labour Ministry is slated for 1 PM.
