700 acres of former sugar lands in Raymonds, Clarendon to be used for cultivation of crops for the production of gluten free flour
Over 700 acres of former sugar lands in Raymonds, Clarendon, are to be leased to Jamaica Flour Mills and UWI SODECO.
The arrangement will allow for the cultivation of breadfruit, cassava and sweet potato which will then be used in the production of gluten-free flour.
A processing plant is to be constructed on the property as well.
Agriculture Minister Floyd Green said the initiative will be beneficial to Jamaica.
Mr. Green added that there are several more acres of land island-wide, which need to be put to use.
