Opposition calls on Government to fulfil its mandate of implementing strategies to curtail violence in schools
The Opposition People’s National Party is calling on the Government to fulfil its mandate of implementing strategies to curtail violence in schools.
Opposition Spokesman on Education, Senator Damion Crawford says recent violent incidents involving students again indicate the urgent need for a solution.
In one of those incidents a student of Irwin High School in St. James was stabbed to death, allegedly by his schoolmate.
Speaking to IRIE FM news this morning, Senator Crawford said while parents have a great responsibility to socialize their children, Government has a responsibility to create solutions for the country’s problems.
He believes Government should consider policy implementation to tackle the issue.
Senator Crawford said the Opposition recommended strategies to dealing with violence in schools.
However, he said the Government has ignored the suggestions.
Senator Crawford is calling on the Government to meet with the Opposition to discuss solutions to the issue.
