Minister of Local Government, Desmond McKenzie is calling for greater levels of compliance with the law and social responsibility.

This after six firefighters were injured, three of whom are hospitalized in serious condition.

They came into contact with live power lines while battling a blaze in Greenwich Town in St. Andrew this morning.

Mr. McKenzie expressed thanks that the firefighters were clad in their protective equipment including rubber boots.

He said this helped to reduce the impact of the electric shocks.

The Minister is urging persons to desist from setting up illegal power connections.
