Investigators are to question the operator of the Atlantis Leadership Academy in St. Elizabeth on Thursday.

Police have launched an investigation into the operations of the facility, following allegations of abuse.

In February, eight Americans aged 14 to 18 were removed from the academy after signs of abuse and neglect were observed during a visit.

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) said it intervened to ensure the safety of eight u-s teenage boys.

Meantime, a fifth man has been charged in relation to an ongoing investigation.

He is 23-year-old Damion Herrera otherwise called ‘True Juice’, of Gordon Pen, St. Catherine. He has been charged with cruelty to a child.

Herrera joins four men who were previously charged with the offences of assault occasioning bodily harm, cruelty to a child and assault at common law.

They are 39-year-old Eddison Morris of Great Bay, 51-year-old Courtney Wiggan, of Sandy Bank, 30-year-old Odane Maxwell, a footballer of Holland Village, and 33-year-old Carson Cox of Sandy Bank, all in St. Elizabeth.

All five men were granted bail in the sum of $350,000 each, when they appeared in the St. Elizabeth parish court on Tuesday.

They are scheduled to re-appear on Monday, May 13.
