The thanksgiving service for the life of veteran and internationally recognized track and field analyst Hubert Lawrence will be held at the St Jago Cathedral in Spanish Town, St Catherine on May 5 .
The wake for Lawrence, who co-authored three books, and covered track and field at the World Championship and the Olympic Games for over 3 decades, will be held at the St Jago High School Auditorium on May 2.
Considered the encyclopedia of Jamaican track and field, Lawrence died at his home on the 23rd of February this year, a day before the Gibson Relays.
He was an integral part of track and field commentary teams across the Caribbean and North America, for both radio and television, covering the Penn Relays, Carifta Games, Boys and Girls Athletics Championship, and provided countless investigative stories and opinion pieces for the print media.
