Academic staff at the University of Technology (UTECH) say the plan to take industrial action next Monday is due to how issues relating to the compensation review are being handled by the government.

During a special general meeting on Thursday, the staff members voted to withdraw their service, come March 18.

They claim that the restructured compensation still has anomalies and that some workers are getting less pay.

Public relations officer for the UTECH Academic Staff Union Dr. Tashieka Burris-Melville, expressed hope that the government will move with alacrity in resolving the matter.
