Lobby group, Jamaicans for Justice, JFJ, is urging the local Court of Appeal to scrutinize, carefully, issues relating to the Vybz Kartel case, when contemplating if a re-trial should be done.

This following the ruling from the United Kingdom based Privy Council yesterday, that the convictions of Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer and his 3 co-appellants be quashed, and the matter be returned to the local court for a determination on retrial.

Executive Director of the JFJ Mickel Jackson says among the issues to consider, is if justice would be served with a retrial.

She says deciding on a retrial requires balancing public interest, victim justice and the rights of the accused.

Ms. Jackson says given the high profile nature of the Kartel case, it may prove difficult to select an impartial jury.
