Businessman Everton ‘Beachy Stout’ McDonald and co-accused found guilty for murder of McDonald’s wife
69 year-old Portland businessman Everton ‘Beachy Stout’ McDonald and his co-accused 39-year-old Oscar Barnes were convicted of the murder of McDonald’s wife 32-year-old Tonia McDonald, on Wednesday.
A seven member jury deliberated for several hours on Wednesday and returned unanimous guilty verdicts in the Home Circuit Court.
Mcdonald’s wife, Tonia, was murdered on July 20, 2020 in Portland.
Justice Chester Stamp presided at the trial and will sentence the men on May 16.
They were both convicted of murder and conspiracy to murder.
The crown alleged that it was a contract killing and that the accused McDonald orchestrated the murder.
Evidence was led in the home circuit court that Tonia’s throat was cut and she was stabbed several times before being set ablaze in Sherwood Forest in Portland.
It was also argued that McDonald had placed a $3 million-dollar contract for the murder of his wife who he claimed was cheating on him.
Prosecution witness Denvalyn Bubbla Minott had testified that he conspired with Barnes to commit the murder.
Minott pleaded guilty to his role in the murder and is now serving a sentence of 19 years imprisonment.
Mcdonald and Barnes had denied committing the offence.
