Police and soldiers rescued a man from a mob in Kasha Town, Albion in Manchester last evening, after the man was accused of the stabbing death of another in the community.

Dead is Jevone Jackson.

Reports are that at about midday yesterday, Jackson was at a shop in the community when he and the accused man got into an altercation.

Jackson sustained stab wounds and was pronounced dead at hospital.

Following the incident, the suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside an unfinished house.

Crime Officer for Manchester, Deputy Superintendent Dennis Simpson said the man was rescued by the security forces and taken to a medical facility.

An hour after the man was rescued, the house where he had sought refuge was reportedly set ablaze.

police are probing the incidents.
