BOJ Governor says fall in productivity a cause for concern
The fall in Jamaica’s productivity remains a cause for concern.
Bank of Jamaica Governor Richard Byles noted the concern as he outlined the country’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in relation to employment figures.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Mr. Byles noted that real GDP continues to expand, citing growth in agriculture, among the influencing factors.
He said there are signs that the economy will continue to expand for the first quarter of this year.
Despite this, Governor Byles said there is a concern regarding productivity level which has not increased with greater levels of employment.
