Local government candidate for the Mocho division in Clarendon Romaine Morris has rubbished the claim by the Jamaica Labour Party that he was expelled.

Morris said he had already resigned from the JLP last month.

This reaction comes in the wake of a statement by the JLP yesterday that Morris was expelled, following his nomination as a candidate for the Peoples National Party.

Morris described this as a desperate attempt by political operatives to impede the momentum gained by the PNP in the division.

He pointed out that, as he had resigned from the chairmanship of the Mocho division and the JLP a month ago, he was not nominated while being a sitting member of the JLP.

Morris explained that his resignation was with immediate effect, and so, he was surprised to hear that he was expelled from an organization in which he held no membership, for a month.

He said the release from the JLP is inaccurate and a political ploy seeking to cause confusion and smear his character.

Morris said he will remain the PNP’s candidate for the Mocho division and urged supporters to ignore false statements aimed at confusing the electorate.
