The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has expressed happiness that the local government election date has been announced, after several postponements.

General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell said the party has been preparing, while expressing hope that the campaign, leading up to the polls, will be incident free. 

And, some supporters of the JLP have welcomed the announcement of the date for the local government election.

Speaking with Irie FM News following the announcement at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James this afternoon, the supporters said they are ready to cast their ballots.

One male party supporter said he predicted the February 26 election date.
