PM Holness assures that Government is implementing system and programmes that create economic environment and support for creating films in the country
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has sought to assure that the Government is implementing the system and programmes that ensure the economic environment and support for creating films in the country.
He was speaking yesterday at the launch of the Jamaica Screen Development Initiative, in Kingston.
The one billion dollar initiative will support both local and co-productions for all screen genres at the various stages of development.
It is being operationalized through JAMPRO, an agency under the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, which also has direct oversight of Jamaica’s film commission.
Mr Holness noted that film funding is a matter that has been given serious consideration by the Government.
He said the Government is also ensuring that the infrastructure required to leverage Jamaica’s history is in place.
Holness pointed out that the Government is looking at the bigger picture.
