Deputy Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey rubbishes claims that police attempted to cover up Melissa Silvera’s murder
Amidst public speculation that there may have been attempts by police to cover up the murder of Melissa Silvera, Head of the Crime Portfolio Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey has sought to rubbish those claims.
This, after former parliamentarian, Jolyan Silvera, was charged with murder in relation to his wife’s death.
It was initially reported that Melissa died in her sleep of natural causes last November.
However, during the post mortem examination bullet fragments were found in her body.
The police subsequently upgraded the case to a murder investigation.
In outlining the investigative process leading up to Mr Silvera being charged, DCP Bailey noted that the autopsy conducted on Melissa, was in fact requested by the police.
