JFF Elections Postponed
The Jamaica Football Federation voting congress schedule for this Sunday at the Ruseas high school will not take place.
This as Supreme Court judge Andrea Thomas today granted an injunction to Beach Soccer Jamaica which will remain in effect until February 9.
President of Beach Soccer Jamaica Pat Garel filed an injunction in the Supreme Court earlier this week seeking an order to compel the Jamaica Football Federation to allow Beach Soccer to participate in the January 14 Election as the entity representing Beach Football in Jamaica.
The Jamaica Football Coaches association represented by Dwayne Atkinson had also filed an application seeking the right to vote in the election but withdrew its application today.
Its lawyer Valrie Neita Robertson explained that the withdrawal was made because of threats issued against one of the executives of the applicant.
Today’s court action sees incumbent Mike Ricketts tenure as JFF president being extended until the election process is reconvened
In the meantime when the the parties return to court after the injunction expires, there will be a hearing and the judge which will determine the relevant party to vote on behalf of Beach Football in Jamaica.
