JPL Champions Mount Pleasant signs MOU with English League One Club Charlton Athletic
Jamaica Premier League Champions Mount Pleasant will be heading off on a yearly trek to England as part of a Memorandom of understanding with English League One club Charlton Athletic.
The new partnership between the two clubs will see Mount Pleasant traveling to the valley for a pre-season charity match each year.
Charlton’s young players will take part in an annual youth tournament in Jamaica at the mount pleasant academy also as a part of the commitment between the two clubs.
The long-term aim of the partnership is to further improve the quantity of elite players graduating from the club’s esteemed academy.
The mountain to valley partnership’ as it is dubbed will provide a clear pathway to playing professional football in London for talented, young Caribbean footballers, while allowing Mount Pleasant to benefit from the knowledge, experience and expertise of Charltons Academy.
An overall four players from both clubs are members of the current reggae boys squad which is now getting ready to face the USA in the Concacaf Nations league semi-finals and later this year the Copa America tournament. They are Michael Hector, Karoy Anderson, Demario Phillips and Jamoi Topey
