Hayley Matthews shortlisted for ICC Women’s T/20 player of the year award
West Indies women’s captain Hayley Matthews has been shortlisted for the International cricket Council’s Women’s T20 player of the year, in the upcoming (ICC) 2023 awards.
In 2023 Matthews, the top-ranked all-rounder in ICC Women’s T/20I, delivered an exceptional series of performances, accumulating a total of 700 runs – the highest by any player in a single year in women’s T20 international.
Additionally, she secured 19 wickets in just 14 matches, boasting an average of 16.21 for the year.
The Barbadian Matthews is up against three high-class players, which includes England spinner Sophie Ecclestone, Australia’s Ellyse Perry, and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu who are also nominated.
