Agriculture Ministry and Constabulary to improve relationship with public health inspectors to help combat praedial larceny
The Agriculture Ministry and the Constabulary will be improving their relationship with the nation’s public health inspectors to help combat praedial larceny.
Head of the Ministry’s Praedial Larceny Unit, Superintendent Oral Pascoe told IRIE FM news that by partnering with public health inspectors, the Unit can move to address gaps in the animal traceability framework.
Although the inspectors play a critical role in protecting the health of animal products, Superintendent Pascoe explained that they can also help to ensure that stolen animals are not stamped.
He also noted that there will be more sensitization sessions with the public health inspectors and other stakeholders on the relevant legislation aimed at preventing praedial larceny.
