Police probe suspected drowning of 11-year-old in the Rio Cobre
An 11-year-old boy is suspected to have drowned in the Rio Cobre in Bog Walk, St. Catherine on Tuesday (December 26).
He has been identified as O’Brien Gooden, otherwise called ‘Dantay’, of Shenton, in Bog Walk.
Police report that at about 4:20 PM on Tuesday, O’Brien and other children were swimming at the river, when he got into difficulties and reportedly drowned.
A report was made to the police and the boy’s body was retrieved from the river, at about 10:45 AM on Wednesday.
