Opposition Leader says he is yet to receive response from PM Holness following calls to cease efforts to make Portmore a parish
More than a month after he wrote to the Prime Minister requesting that he ceases all efforts to make Portmore a parish, Opposition Leader Mark Golding said he is yet to receive a response from Andrew Holness.
In the letter dated November 20, 2023, Mr Golding restated his position that any proposal to alter the structure of the Portmore Municipality requires extensive consultations with residents and other stakeholders.
He also accused the ruling Jamaica Labour Party of having self-serving and partisan reasons for wanting to make Portmore the fifteenth parish.
In an update this afternoon, the Opposition Leader said he is hopeful that the Prime Minister will acknowledge the concerns he raised soon.
