As 2023 draws to a close, the police are once again urging citizens to exercise safety and vigilance on the nation’s roads to stem road fatalities.

At least 414 people have been killed in crashes so far this year.

Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (P-STEB), Assistant Commissioner Gary McKenzie lamented that road fatalities continue to climb.

He said speeding remains the main cause of road fatalities.

ACP McKenzie reiterated that there is heightened police presence on the roads but noted that motorists should still be responsible with how they traverse the roadways.
