Opposition Spokesman on National Security questions the timing of SOEs declared in four parishes yesterday
Opposition Spokesman on National Security, Peter Bunting is questioning the timing of the States of Emergency (SOEs) declared in four parishes yesterday.
The SOEs cover Hanover, St. James, Clarendon, and St. Catherine and will last for an initial 14 days, starting yesterday November 23.
Reacting to the announcement, the Opposition Spokesman said this marks the second consecutive year of SOE declarations just before the governing JLP’s Annual Party Conference.
He said the declaration leads to questions about the government’s priorities.
He added that the continuous use of SOEs has done nothing to quell murders across the country over the past eight years.
