Transport Minister assures rural transportation system for schoolchildren will launch next year
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says the pilot project, for a rural transportation system for school children is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.
He gave the update while speaking at the post cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, yesterday (November 22).
The Minister took note of renewed calls for a specialized transport system for students, following the recent deaths of 3 school children in motor vehicle crashes, in Westmoreland.
Acknowledging the need for the transport system, Mr. Vaz again assured that it is a top priority and that efforts are being made to implement it, early next year.
He said implementation of the system will require collaboration between government and transport groups.
