Shericka Jackson shortlisted for Fair Play award at 2023 World Athletics Championships
World 200 metres champion Shericka Jackson is in line for another award from World Athletics following her exploits at the world athletics championships in Budapest.
This as she has been short-listed for the international fair play award along with the American sprinter Sha’carri Richardson.
The moment, caught on camera, took place when Jackson who won the women’s 200 metre final in a national and championship record 21.41 seconds was spontaneously embraced by Richardson who was third in a personal best 21.92 seconds.
this is among six moments short-listed for this year’s international fair play award, with fans invited to vote for their favourite moment.
The shortlist includes Kenya’s Daniel Ebenyo saluting his teammate Sebastian Sawe as he was being overtaken in the final stages of the men’s half marathon…..
Australia’s Nina Kennedy and American Katie Moon sharing the women’s pole vault gold medal after they were unable to be separated after their final attempt…………….and Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey going back to comfort Sifan Hassan after the Dutch star’s dramatic fall on the home straight in the women’s 10,000 metre final.
The shortlist is completed by Britain’s Jessica Warner-Judd who after finishing 8th in the women’s 10,000m final…….was the only athlete to wait and shake hands with the final placed runner who completed the event some distance behind the rest of the field.
Voting closes at midnight on Sunday November 5
The finalists will be announced on November 7.
The winner will be revealed on world athletics’ platforms in the lead up to the world athletics awards in Monaco on December 11.
