Taxi operators and residents protest bad roads in Unity Hall
Taxi operators and residents blocked the Unity Hall main road in St. James on Monday morning as they protested the poor condition of the road way.
The residents took the streets around 7 a.m. bearing placards as they called for the thoroughfare to be fixed.
The protesters say the roadway is a main thoroughfare and should not be in this state.
The road has been cleared by the police.
One protester said the many potholes along the roadway have been causing several vehicular collisions.
He said drivers find it hard to keep left, due to the state of the roads.
He called on the authorities to intervene immediately or the protests will continue.
In the meantime, the St. James police say they are maintaining a presence in the area, as they monitor the situation.
