Smart technology is one strategy being touted as a means of combating crime while enhancing public safety in Kingston and St. Andrew.

Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams says by making Kingston a “smart city”, the Municipal Corporation can use Information and Communications Technology to enhance citizens’ welfare which includes reducing crime.

Mayor Williams also notes that smart technology could enhance other inefficiencies within the city, such as those associated with transportation and disaster management.

Mayor Williams was speaking at a special sitting of the Corporation in Downtown Kingston to facilitate the visit of Mayor Gary R. McCarthy of Schenectady, New York.
