Incarcerated still human beings, deserving of respect, opportunity for rehabilitation and re-integration -Cuthbert-Flynn
Those who are incarcerated are still human beings, deserving of respect and the opportunity for rehabilitation and re-integration.
State Minister of National Security, Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn gave the reminder while addressing the Department of Correctional Services’ Boards of Visitors at the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston yesterday (September 14).
The role of the Boards of Visitors is to provide oversight of the operations of correctional centres to ensure that the best interests and rights of wards or inmates are protected or upheld at all times.
Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn also charged the Boards of Visitors to operate with moral courage and an unyielding commitment to justice.
