Over 500 patients screened for eye care by Cuban doctors working out of Kingston Public Hospital
Over 500 patients have been screened for eye care by Cuban doctors working out of the Kingston Public Hospital.
They are being treated under the Jamaica Cuba Eye Care Programme which resumed in July, following a suspension due to the COVID pandemic.
Speaking at a quarterly press briefing yesterday (September 13), Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said over 6,000 patients were assessed with over 5,000 of them deemed to still be in need of surgery.
Dr. Tufton said nearly 200 patients have already received laser treatment or surgery.
