Sunshine girlz defender Shamera Sterling has been ranked the top player in the 2023 season of the Suncorp Super Netball league in Australia.

It comes after a sensational campaign where she played a pivotal role for the Adelaide thunderbirds who won win their first title in 10 years while leading the league in intercepts and deflections and also finished 2nd in defensive rebounds.

The list of the top 15 players in the 2023 season was compiled by Stephanie Smarrelli on the competition’s official website and features Helen Housby of the NSW Swifts at number 2 followed by Courtney Bruce of the West Coast Fever , Jamie-Lee Price of the Giants Netball club and Sterling’s teammate Eleanor Cardwell at number 5.

Other Jamaicans making the list were defender Jodi-Ann ward of the Collingwood Magpies at 6, reigning MVP Jhaniele Fowler  of the West Coast fever at  7 and Latanya Wilson of champions Adelaide thunderbirds who came in at number 9,
