More inspections will be conducted at schools this month to ensure that mosquito breeding sites are eradicated.

This, as part of efforts to curb the increase in dengue cases in the country.

Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton revealed at a press conference yesterday, that as at September 11, Jamaica had recorded over 300 suspected, presumed and confirmed cases of the virus.

This is almost 5 times the 65 cases recorded last year.

Noting a rise in cases among people aged 5 to 14 years, Dr. Tufton said vulnerable areas, such as schools are being targetted, to reduce the risks.
