Gov’t could easily triple output of Social Housing Programme if projects had reliable contractors -PM Holness
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the Government could easily triple the output of the Social Housing Programme if the projects had reliable contractors.
Speaking at a handing over ceremony for one of the housing units under the programme in Portland recently, Mr Holness said Government is working to train local contractors.
He said the Government only has access to a limited pool of contractors.
According to the Prime Minister, if the Government’s aim of expanding the programme is to happen, more local contractors must be available.
He explained that this would see the provision of training and resources to emerging local contractors, who would become further empowered and form part of Jamaica’s crucial infrastructure development talent pool.
