Long wait time of up to two hours or more for buses operated by the JUTC is a thing of the past -Daryl Vaz
The long wait time of up to two hours or more for buses operated by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is a thing of the past.
That is the assurance from Transport Minister, Daryl Vaz who was speaking at the Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre in St. Andrew this morning (September 11).
Mr Vaz was overseeing the rollout of JUTC buses for the new school term, which fully starts today.
The Minister who arrived at the Transport Centre at 7 AM, said 253 buses were available and deployed.
Following this morning’s observation at the Centre, Mr Vaz said he was impressed with this morning’s rollout, which is already making a difference for commuters.
He also noted that vouchers valued at $1, 200 were offered to several students towards bus fare.
Meantime, Education Minister Fayval Williams, who was also at the Transport Centre said the smooth operation of the buses is an indication of what can happen when all aspects of the Government work together.
She expressed delight, especially at how students with special needs were carefully dealt with on the buses.
