Nurses at the May Pen Hospital in Clarendon staged a protest outside the hospital this morning (September 11) to call attention to security concerns.

The protest followed an incident at the hospital in which a nurse was injured.

Chairman of the Southern Regional Health Authority, Wayne Chen reports that a man said to be of unsound mind, threw a stone which injured the nurse.

The health authority in a statement this morning, said the incident occurred about 11:pm when the man threw the stone in the vicinity of the hospital’s entrance. The nurse was on her way home from work.

The authority said she received immediate attention.

Mr Chen says a meeting is underway to discuss the security concerns.
