Jamaica secures two gold medals at Special Olympic World Games in Berlin, Germany

Jamaica grabbed two more medals in the morning session at the Special Olympic World Games in Berlin Germany, moving up their tally to three overall, after four days of competition. 

This after Alanika Gordon and O’brian Mcfarlane won the gold in their respective 800 metres final earlier this morning.

Gordon won in a time of 3 minutes 06.66 seconds, while McFarlane  was first in the male equivalent in 2 minutes 24.61 seconds. 

This to add to the silver medal won by  Kayanna Kelly the women’s standing long jump yesterday,  after she registered a best effort of 1.8 meters as compatriot Diandra Baker placed 6th in 1.36 metres.  

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s female seven a side footballers remained on course for a spot in the medal round after they defeated Rwanda 4-3 earlier this morning, while the badminton team lost to the Chinese Tai Pei 15-12.

They  are now  out of the group stages, and will play  for placing on Thursday.
