Indecom: no body camera footage evidence provided in police shooting incidents
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) says of the 53 police-related fatal shootings, reported so far this year, no body-worn camera footage was produced as evidence.
In providing an update at a press conference this morning, assistant commissioner of Indecom Hamish Campbell said, in at least one case, it was found that during that incident, the body-worn camera, was not turned on.
Mr. Campbell noted, however, that CCTV camera evidence continues to play a major role in Indecom’s probe into police shootings.
