Funding for Musgrave Market repairs will be done through Local Government Ministry -McKenzie
The Local Government Minister has sought to assure that no decision has been taken to divest the interests of the Musgrave Market in Portland, and therefore it remains the responsibility of the Municipality and his Ministry.
Mr McKenzie’s declaration comes amid allegations that the reconstruction of the market, which was recently destroyed by fire will be undertaken through private means.
Mr McKenzie clarified that funding for the repairs will be done through the Local Government Ministry.
He noted, however, that any help from private bodies is welcomed.
He was speaking during a press briefing at Jamaica House this morning (June 14).
