Leading the charge at the Caribbean Nutrition Day held in Downtown, Kingston recently, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie noted the increasing prevalence of
non-communicable diseases in Jamaica.
She stressed the important role that food plays in keeping people healthy or contributing to diseases.
Dr. Bisasor-McKenzie emphasized that unhealthy foods lead to lifestyle diseases while noting the importance of reading labels on processed food items.
