Response teams are working to clear blocked drains and flooded roadways in Yallahs, St Thomas.
Member of Parliament (MP) for St Thomas Western, James Robertson said motorists are expected to have an easier commute by this evening (June 2).
Sections of Yallahs were inundated today following heavy rains.
Heavy-duty equipment was brought in to begin clear-up operations.
The flood waters affected the Yallahs Primary School, resulting in the early dismissal of classes.
Mr Robertson said only the schoolyard was flooded.
He noted that some farms were affected and that the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) will be conducting assessments.
The MP said he is awaiting the disbursement of funds to begin drain cleaning, as part of mitigation measures for the hurricane season.
