Education Minister says efforts being made to improve literacy rate among island’s students
Education Minister Fayval Williams says efforts are being made to improve the literacy rate among the island’s students.
This after reports emerged that more than 70 per cent of first-form students at a Kingston-based High School are reading at, or below the grade four level.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, Minister Williams acknowledged that students across the country are not reading at the level they should be, but noted that her Ministry is working to address this.
She noted that while the task of improving literacy among students will be difficult, her Ministry is committed to doing the work.
