Economist says attacks on cash couriers are linked to clamp down on lottery scamming
Development Economist, Dr. Chris Stokes, has suggested that the rise in attacks on cash couriers is linked to the clamp down on lottery scamming.
His comment comes on the heels of at least five attacks on beryllium cash in transit vehicles since the start of the year.
One security guard was shot and killed, while several others were shot and wounded in the incidents – the latest of which took place on Saturday in Albion, St. Thomas.
Speaking at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Trafalgar New Heights last evening (May 4), Dr. Stokes said gangsters are seeking new revenue streams.
