Canadian advocacy group concerned with report from Jamaican fact finding team
Canadian based advocacy group Justice for Migrant Workers, says it has some concerns with the recent report from the fact finding team that was sent to Canada , to investigate the working conditions of Jamaican farm workers.
In his sectoral debate presentation last week, Labour Minister Karl Samuda revealed that the team found that most of the workers are being treated fairly well.
However, member of the group Taneeta Doma who spoke on Irie Fm’s Africa Forum on Sunday, said justice for migrant workers, is concerned about the authenticity of the report.
Noting that because many of the workers depend on the programme for survival, this would impact their willingness to speak out.
She said their focus is on the Canadian government which is in charge of the programme.
