Suspect allegedly involved in supermarket robbery in St Elizabeth in custody
One of the men who was allegedly involved in a robbery at a supermarket in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth on Thursday morning, has been hospitalised under police guard.
Head of the St. Elizabeth police, Superintendent Kenneth Chin said a wounded man turned up at the Mandeville hospital seeking treatment.
It‘s theorised that the man accidentally shot himself in the foot during the robbery at the Bun Dung Supermarket.
He is being interviewed by detectives.
Reports are that at about 7:45am, 5 gunmen entered the supermarket, and ordered persons to get on the floor.
A man at the supermarket was robbed of his firearm, which contained fifteen 9 millimetre cartridges.
The gunmen then fled the scene in a motor vehicle.
